The Power of Movement

By Rachel Tice, LMT, 200RYT, Pilates Instructor, Breathwork Instructor, Holistic Wellness Practitioner

Movement is the act of changing position or physical location. In holistic health, movement is purposeful for the enhancement, stabilization, and harmonization of the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual body.  This is also known as the mind, body, and soul connection. There are many different forms of movement in holistic wellness. Some of the more popular practices include Pilates, Yoga, Breathwork, Meditation, Feldenkrais, Somatic Movement, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and many more! Some other movement practices can include walking, gardening, cycling, and swimming. Some of the movement practices we like to implement here at Sacred Transcendence include Yoga, Pilates, Breathwork, and Meditation.

For me, out of all the holistic movement practices, I enjoy Yoga, Pilates, and Breathwork. When I combine each of these practices, I find myself in a state of ease, void of stress, anxiety, and chaos. The flow of Yoga practice along with the movements of Pilates helps the body find stability when I am feeling on edge. Bringing my mind into a more relaxed state. Allowing for the body, and mind to practice breathwork without fear of not having enough air. Allowing one to achieve serenity and soulful wellness.

Performing regular breathing exercises is said to enhance focus, and clarity in the mind. It also provides the body with many other health benefits like reducing stress, healing trauma, enhancing mental clarity, and much more. Like breathwork, Yoga also enhances mental function, reduces stress, and is great for the body! Pilates, too, is an amazing practice for the body but it’s yet another great stress buster! Each practice individually has many benefits for conscious embodiment. But don’t take my word for it, explore the world of movement for yourself! What will you choose for you along your healing journey?
