Energetic Self-Care Through Seasonal Change
By: Rachel Tice, CEO, LMT, 200RYT
As the seasons shift, our energy naturally adjusts to the changing environment even if we are not fully aware of it. Fall invites us to slow down, reflect, and prepare for the inward, restorative energy of winter. Seasonal transitions can leave us feeling off-balance, fatigued, or emotionally scattered, making energetic self-care more important than ever. One powerful way to support your energetic field is with florida water. Florida water is a combination of plants both dried or fresh, steeped in 40 to 100 proof vodka. This botanical infusion has been used for years to help cleanse the energetic field. Spritz a little on your pulse points, around your space, or in a bath to clear stagnant energy and invite freshness and clarity. Gentle movement, like yoga, tai chi, or mindful walking, helps release stagnant energy and connect with the Earth, while chanting, toning, or simple mantras can clear blockages, raise your vibration, and center your mind.
Intentional breathwork is another essential tool, balancing the nervous system and harmonizing your energy field. Practices like deep diaphragmatic breathing, alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodhana), or 4-7-8 cycles (inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8) help release tension and restore flow.
One of my other favorite energetic self-care tools is the use of aromatherapy. Aromatherapy can profoundly support your energetic self-care, with oils like lavender, frankincense, cedarwood, or sage helping to calm, ground, and cleanse your energy when diffused or applied to pulse points.
Observing the seasonal shifts—taking note of the colors, smells, and sensations around you—allows you to integrate these changes consciously, while journaling can help reflect on how the season affects your mood or energy.
Finally, creating a sacred space with candles, smudging, or crystals can anchor your energy and provide stability during transitions. Energetic self-care is about tuning in to your body and spirit, listening to what you need with non-judgment (ahimsa), and supporting your flow with intention. As the seasons change, your energy deserves gentle attention, just as your body does.
